we have a small business and want to start excepting credit cards as payment but don’t know where to start ?? do I call the bank or visa or master card ??
You need a merchant service account. There are many companies out there that can provide this for you. I would search google for "merchant services" this should give you a lot of choices. Be careful though! The merchant service industry makes there money trying to confuse their clients. There are different rates for swiping a card or punching the numbers in manually. If a customer uses a reward card you are going to pay a higher rate. You MUST shop these rates against at least three companies. Good Luck!

Hello,
I am part of a Construction Business and we are looking into getting a Credit Card for all of our purchases. I like to travel a lot and am wondering if anyone has suggestions for credit cards with the best travel rewards. Personal Experience with a certain card would be appreciated. Thank you very much!

I was curious, if you’re accepted for a Credit Card do they tell you immediately? I would think so… I applied online and was told I’d recieve my answer in 4-5 days. Does that mean I am denied?
Yes, if you are a very low risk they will give the cashier an automatic approval when you are at the register. If they have any questions (and this can be as small as you recently moved and have a different address, the cashier makes a keystroke error and changes your birth year, social securitty number….) or every single item does not match up, they will defer the decision.

I keep getting credit card offers on the phone from Discovery Card. They want my birthday. Mom’s maiden name etc. I won’t give it to them so that ends that. How do you accept an offer on the phone now a days without worrying about Identity theft ?
You go to their website - and either do an application online or call their 800 number.
Keep in mind - that you NEVER know who is calling you.
It could always be a scam.
Get off those lists - nothing good ever comes out of accepting any phone offers.
EVER.
Google: DoNotCall.org
And get on that list.
And get your creidt reports and get off the solicitation lists.
Go to
Annual Credit Report.com
Get your reports - print them out - and then click on the link to be removed from promotional calls and mailings.
Be careful about navigating through that site.
They will want you to pay for your credit score - something you do not need unless you are buying a house.
The reports and what’s in them it’s what’s important.
Reports are free - always have been.

I have no credit and I applied for a student credit card online. I am in college. How long should it take before I hear back?
Hey, I just applied for a student credit card too. I also have no credit history. The only difference is I actually went to the bank to do it and they said it would be 2-3 Business days to find out if i’m approved or not.

Due to my zero credit score and i have difficultly in getting one credit card. I have applied from some of the banks available but their said that they couldn’t approved any of my application because their is some error but no further information was given after that.
is there anybody out there facing the same problem and know manage to solve it? Please help.
Orchard has high fees, but is certainly an option. Another option is going to where you bank (optimally, a credit union!!) & talking with a finance manager about getting a secured credit card. Make SURE it is one that can become unsecured at a future point in time & can grow with you.

I applied to two credit cards in town through an online application about 4 days ago. Upon applying it just said thank you, call this number for help, and that was it. I listed my e-mail and address and what not on the application so should I expect and e-mail or actual mail containing the card?
How long does it take to be actually applied?
I was hoping to have the card before the end of next week since I’m going to Toronto and would like to have one in case of an emergency since I’ll be there for two weeks.
One last question, I didn’t include my SIN number because it was optional? Will this ruin my chances of being approved and should I approve again and include it?
Most credit card companies will either auto approve or auto decline if you apply online and you get that message back right away. If you didn’t receive a decision, there could be various reasons:
1) They might need to develop your application a little bit and might contact you to get clarity regarding your income, credit history etc.
2) Someone will need to review your application manually and provide a decision.
In any of these cases, you should call the company and inquire about the status of your application. By law, credit card companies have 30 days to respond to your application but companies generally turn them around in 10-15 days.

I requested a new credit card with a lower interest rate than my two cards now with the intentions of paying off the two cards with my new card. The new card credit limit is not enough to pay off the other two, however, so I don’t want it anymore. I requested it online, was "approved," and just received it in the mail today. What will happen if I just throw it away without activating it?
if i am not mistaken, it is already tied to your social security number. if you choose not to activate it, nothing happens. contact the credit card company to make sure that they don’t issue you another card due to non-activation. Do NOT close the credit card!!!!! Your score will go down by at least 20-30 pts. (my score did so I know what I am talking about)

Now, I have never had a card. And when I applied I was denied, because there’s nothing there. I don’t have a score or credit history. And I heard when you apply for a card it lowers your score. What if you have no score? Do you go negative?
Josh is correct about your credit score - but I am assuming you are wanting to build credit and get a credit card - Capital One will approve almost everyone. Apply for a Capital One Student card first. Use it to make small purchases each month - stay under the credit limit and pay it off each month. After three months apply for a Discover Student Card.

Okay, that probably sounds like a stupid question, but I read that the number of inquiries about your credit can affect your credit score. It said "This includes promotional inquiries such as solicitations." Since my credit card offers say I’m "pre-approved" based on my credit score, I’m assuming that means they have made inquiries.
So, anyway, thanks.
Btw, I’m not actually asking for or getting the cards, I’m just wondering about the inquiries.
Promotional inquiries are "always" soft inquiries - soft inquiries do not hurt you since the only one who sees them is you and they are not used for credit scores.
Hard inquiries are done when you apply for credit.
Hard inquiries will hurt, how much would depend on how thick or thin your credit file is.
If your credit file is pretty thin, few accounts with not much age, then the inquiries will hurt more.
The inquiries will have less of an impact around 6 months and generally no impact at one year (an underwriter.may notate inquiries that are longer than one year)
