If i lost my job on Friday, can I still expect to get the 0% credit card offers for a few weeks?

Friday, July 9th, 2010

I have a $1500 balance on a 0% card that expires at the end of February. I got fired on Friday….how long before the credit people find out, and stop sending me the card offers?
I wanted to get a 0% offer for over a year, but the only ones I was getting were for 9 / 10 months.

You will always get offers from credit card companies based on your credit history and information they recieve. In order for them to honor for the card you have to apply for it, like any other card, and at that time they will tell you if you quality for that program or not. When you recieve the offer you need to read all terms and conditions because it will state that there are certain requirements they require in order for you to get the 0%.

When a credit card inquires about your income that is so that they can calculate your credit limit. They normally do not continue to inquire about a customer’s job situation once they open the account and you use the card.

At that pont the credit card company looks at you as you need to pay them back. If you got fired and stop making payments then they will start to inquire and call you for payment. If you don’t make payments after awhile the account will go into default and you will be recieving collection calls from the credit card company.

What credit card offers the best deal on airline miles?

Looking for credit card with no annual fee and offers the most miles with each purchase

The credit cards offered by the airlines all have an annual fee. You can see how much the annual fee is on the Capital One card. I have 2 credit cards with no annual fees that offer you 1 mile for every $2 you spend. However with the airlines cutting back on flights, it is increasingly harder to use your miles for a free trip. My advice is to get a card that gives you cash back. I have a Chase Freedom Visa card that gives you 5% back on grocery and gasoline purchases.

What are some interesting offers that credit card companies are offering right now?

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

I have been using a Discover Card for about 5 years now (It was the only one I could get at the time. I had good credit, but I never had a credit card before so this caused my to be in some sort of credit card paradox.) and I know that there are some cards that offer frequent flyer miles and other types of offers. Do you know of any credit card companies that are offering any interesting ‘rewards’ type programs? BTW, I pay the complete balance of my card every month.

go to the website and there are tons of option to chose, you can also complare between different cards…good luck

Should I opt out of credit card offers?

Sunday, June 20th, 2010

I am in college with a cruel joke of an income, aside from student loans, I have no debt.

Of course, I am also getting a million "pre-screened" credit card offers in the mail.

I read at the bottom of one of these letters that I can call a number to opt out or getting these credit card offers.

Is it wise to opt out of getting them, or will I miss some sort of great deal?
I am not asking if cards are "bad", we know they are.

Do I want to stop getting the OFFERS in the mail?

Or should I just keep getting my mailbox jammed full of them?

The opt out option only works for 5-years.

This will remove your name from the national mailing list for 5-years and then it will go back on. By that time you will be out of school.

You might want to go ahead and get 1 or 2 credit cards first and then opt out. Just use them for everyday things never exceed 30% of your credit limit in any given month and pay in full before the due date.

If you do this, when you get out of school and want to finance something you will have a killer credit score.

If credit markets so bad, why do I get credit card offers in mail daily, and phone calls to refinance my house?

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

I get mortgage brokers calling to refinance my high rate ARM even though I actually have a 5.5% fixed rate. My credit card company keeps asking me to increase my limit and they keep sending checks in the mail to write against the credit card. (which I always shred).

because the tail has not caught up with the dog!!!

I have excellent credit and want a balance transfer. How and where do I compare credit card offers?

Monday, June 7th, 2010

It’s confusing to sort out what the fine print really means and what’s really the best deal. I’m hoping to avoid balance transfer fees or at least minimize them. What’s a good way to research and compare the ones that have better offers for people with good or excellent credit?
Unfortunately, topfinusa4.notlong.com and ebiznus.com both look kind of spammy. Anyone else have a suggestion?

Given that you have excellent credit, you may be able to get a very low or zero percent introductory interest rate on a balance transfer credit card. Before you fill out your new credit card application, make sure you can afford the standard APR associated with the card. This will be your rate once the introductory offer expires. You should compare credit cards based on other factors such as annual fees and reward programs and can do so by visiting www.CardHub.com.

How do you prevent capitol one from spamming you with credit card offers?

Sunday, May 30th, 2010

I’d like to be placed on a do-not-mail list - for all time, for all credit card companies now and in the future.
this is paper spam mail, aka "snail mail."
I’ve already opted out.

Just report it as spam by hitting the junk mail button

Why do you get more credit card offers when your credit score is low than when it is high?

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

I receive more credit card mail a month after my credit score drops than when it is high. It’s been low for a while and I have received dozens more mail than I have ever before. When it goes up I will see if it slows down and report back.

Unfortunately, many credit card companies "prey" on people with less-than-perfect credit.
CC companies don’t really make a lot of money off of people who manage their cards responsibly, pay off their balances quickly, pay on time and never overdraw their accounts. Nor do they make money off of those who open credit, charge it and then let it go to collections w/o a second thought. No. They make money off of people who *sometimes* make bad credit decisions. They don’t go for the people who are deadbeats - those with tons of collections on their accounts. They’ve proved that they are not to be trusted. The CC companies go for people who fall behind and try really hard to catch up - people who have been delinquent in the past, but ususally show good faith of paying what they owe. Those are the people who will pay the late fees and over-the-limit fees. They cc companies can justify charging this customer a higher interest rate b/c of those issues. That’s how they make their money…off of honest, hard-working people who have stumbled in the past. Sad but true!
